What If

What if a relationship started as just friends... Could it stay that way? That's the major question for this romantic comedy about Wallace in his unofficial search for love.

Wallace is a recent dumpee who is very cynical about love. Chantry on the other hand believes love is crazy yet wonderful. Wallace and Chantry meet at a party, Chantry's cousin Allan's part who is also close friends with Wallace. The two have an instant connection, but the awkwardness is when Chantry gives Wallace her number only to blatantly reveal that she has a boyfriend and just wants to be friends.

I will admit. I watched this movie because I saw that Daniel Radcliffe was staring in it, and I absolutely love him. He may be Harry Potter, but he's also Wallace. And he is perfect for the role of Wallace.

I found this movie to kind of contradict the idea of men and women getting along as respected friends rather than anything more. I have a best guy friend who I've been friends with since the 7th grade. We've never had a romanic relationship, and most likely never will. We've become such great friends and nothing is worth ruing that. I had hoped this film would do the same for the main characters. I really wanted them to prove that men and women can be friends without any romantic or sexual feelings for the other. I will say that Wallace and Chantry did surprise me with some of their choices. But, by the end, I was a little disappointed.

However, I absolutely loved the romantic/sexual relationship between Allan and Dalia. They start off as cliche characters, but as the story develops they will amuse you and change your opinions about them. Their side line relationship really intrigued me the most. They're constantly acting as Wallace's mentors. They know Wallace better than Wallace knows himself.

This film really captured my heart, and I will more than happily watch it again. Wallace is too funny and honest a character to pass up on, and Chantry is too humble and funny to ignore.

I highly recommend this film to anyone in the mood for fresh writing and story on romance. Despite the whole men and women can't be friends without romance, this movie will have you laughing and thinking 'till the end.
