Miss Mayhem

I'm indifferent about this book. It lacked the southern charm from the first book, and had a lot less happening. I still enjoy Harper Price's headstrong personality, but I swear she said the word weird like fifty times. That was the word she described any awkward situation with. It got annoying after awhile because I didn't know what she meant. Also, there was a lot of casual reactions to things that were unexpected or crazy. There was also way more teen drama in this book than the last. But, at least the teen drama in the first book was interesting and sometimes exciting. In this book, the drama was mostly about who was dating who and who broke up with who. Along with who was back together. There was a lot of on again off again drama. In all honestly, I'm not sure what Hawkins has in store for the next book. The sequel wasn't as engaging as the first, despite it being an easy read. I was disappointed with the reveal at the end. Harper went on and on about wanting her life going back to normal, but not much changed in her life. She acquired skills of a Paladin (basically a knight), and was a badass fighter, but other than that she was completely normal. Even Ryan with his Mage powers had a normal life. Harper exaggerated the unordinary aspects of her world as if she landed in Hogwarts. I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to the next book, but if the next is the last, then might as well finish it.
