So... This book really disappointed me in the end... I thought the ending of The Merciless II was bad, but now I know where Danielle Vega got the idea for the ending of The Merciless II. I'm only gonna say this for fourteenth billion time, DO NOT JUST TURN THE TABLES AND HAVE NO SENSICAL EVIDENCE TO BACK UP THE NEW SITUATION. The end of this made way less sense than the rest of the book. I was really intrigued to read this book because of the eerie summary on the back, but half way through the book, I realized nothing was happening. Yeah, weird things did happen, but they were so minor they seemed like common life weirdness. I had taken a brief break from the book due to boredom.
The only aspect I liked about the book was the way it was written. Each chapter of the book was a new entry in Paige's digital journal. Books with short chapters make the read so much easier and faster. I was left with a lot of questions by the end of the story, and none will be answered. I read the editor's note at the beginning, and I'm still confused as to whether or not this book is based on a true story.
I have a fetish for horror stories, but this book didn't scare me at all. By the end of the book, there was a bit of a thrive because all the pieces of the mystery were coming together. However, I wasn't satisfied with the reason for all the strange events.
I only recommend this book for those that want to enter the world of horror stories and mysteries in a gentle way.
