A Series of Unfortunate Events

For a children's book, it is quite dark. Orphaned children, an abusive guardian, and no place to call home is what this book is all about. The story is written in third person, but Snicket switches perspective within each chapter. In some chapters, the reader will be inside Violet's creative imagination or inside Klaus's logical explanations. Sunny's nonsense words add a bit of humor to this dark tale. For children, they are smart, sophisticated, and a strong family unit. This book is only 162 pages long, so any reader, slow or fast, could read it one day. I would recommend this book to those that love an easy read and following the unfortunate tales of Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
