Everyone on this earth experiences stress, whether they're rich, poor, famous, human, animal, or extraterrestrial. Life is as untamable as the sea. But, there are many ways to overcome stress. Here's are few ways to beat stress.
Vent to your friends and family
The unexpected downs of life can't be avoided, and sometimes the only way to cope with it is to vent to friends and family about it. Males and Females handle stress differently. Men typically cope with stress by going into their caves until they find a solution to fix the problem. Women find comfortable through talking. Stress can feel like an expanding balloon or a rattled soda bottle waiting to explode. But, if you loosen the lid or slowly until the knot and let the gases out, it'll feel like your body and mind are detoxing. The right friends and family will listen to what you need to say and provide the support you need to get back into the world with an enlightened body and mind.
Stay positive
It's not going to be easy, but staying positive will help keep you out of the gutter. life is going to knock you down and throw unexpected bird poop on you, but all you need to do is roll your shoulders back, breathe, and keep your head up. Don't let your mind over think and focus of the negative of the situation. This will only increase your stress and cause more emotional and physical turmoil. To stay positive, try going for a walk especially with any pets you may have. Your pet will love spending more time with you and vice versa. Watch a comedy movie or television show. Laughter is the quickest way to relieve pent up stress and the most positive. Play a game and don't be ashamed if it's Temple Run or Candy Crush. Even playing with friends can help stay positive. Pick a game that is your favorite and play away!
Find a quiet place Sometimes when our environment is crowded and noisy just like our minds in stressful times, it's important to find a quiet place to relax and rethink. There are many places on this earth that are so quiet you can hear your heart beating. If you're not comfortable with dead silence, then find a place with low volume and distractions. Listen to relaxing music like jazz, feng shui, or earthly sounds. The last thing you want is to stimulate your stress and loose any progress you've made. My favorite quiet places are dog parks, nature walks, and sitting outside on my patio. Fresh air is an important factor into detoxing your body. It will open up your lungs and help relax tense nerves.
Attend local events Depending on where you live, there are always local events going on. If you are a social bug that loves to meet new people, but your stress is bringing you down, this is perfect for you. When you feel you are emotionally longing to get out of the house or apartment, go for it! Attend a book signing, local band gigs, wine tastings, anything happening in the community that you want to be a part of. For those that find comfort being alone and disconnected from the world, the best events to attend are watching new movies whether in theaters or at home, firework shows, plays, and anything that involves people focusing on the performance rather than each other. I enjoy food and wine sampling because I love food and enjoy trying something new without being the center of attention.
Take up an old or new hobby
Over the years, we find ourselves in and out of hobbies. Our free time can be consumed by the amount of work we must do for our jobs, or handling family needs. It's easy to forget the importance of spending time on our selves. Even the most humble of us need a break to rebuild themselves. For any free time you receive, take a break from chores and bills. Find a hobby you have always wanted to do whether it's for the benefit of yourself or family. My favorite hobbies include, puzzles, sewing, reading, watching movies or TV, and of course writing! I've met people who enjoy hunting or shooting at ranges to detox their stress. Nothing like good old fashion gun powder and lead. It doesn't even have to be a long term hobby. It can be a one time only hobby. Whatever it is go for it, and let your inner guilty pleasures come out!
