The Walt Disney World resort never fails when it comes to entertainment, word class customer service, and unique theme parks. I had the recent honor of viewing the final show of the Wishes firework show at the Magic Kingdom. Year long fans, such as myself, attended the event to say goodbye to a piece of our childhood.
Wishes is known as Magic Kingdom's most spectacular show ever presented at the Walt Disney World. It's use of high quality projections, music, and fireworks create a magical experience on wishing upon the stars for all our dreams to come true. Over the years, many new movies have been added to the Walt Disney Studios, such as Frozen, Inside Out, Moana, Rapunzel, Toy Story 3, and so many more. Wishes has been updated to include these movies, but the opening and closing act for the show has stayed the same.
For the final showing of Wishes, Disney sold T-shirt honoring its 14 years of success. I witnessed people of many ages wearing the shirt. I was curious to know if some were true fans of the show, or just wanted a cool T-shirt.
An interesting site I saw was a young girl, by young I mean late teens, crying into a teddybear after the show ended. My first reaction was, "Really? All those tears for one show?" But, later I got to thinking that this show became so much more than just fireworks and good music. This show might have been a beacon for those who really did wish upon stars for a better life, achieve their dreams, find love, or whatever their heart desired. Disney does have a way of making you believe in anything. But, it's good that Disney can do that. Not many media sources provide people with hope and happiness. Like that young girl, I myself can become teary eyed at a Disney show mostly because it really makes me believe in myself and my dreams. Plus I always feel sappy around happy events.
Like others, I will have to say farewell to Wishes, and welcome a new show called, "Happily Ever After." Am I excited? Heck yeah. Disney decided to totally redesign the new show around movies that have been undervalued over the past decades, movies like The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Princess and The Frog, Tarzan, Mulan, Inside Out, Up, The Little Mermaid, The Pirates of the Caribbean, and so many more. It's a new show worth experiencing.
